Most influential teacher(s) Posted Tuesday, December 27, 2011 09:49 AM How could I forget Social Studies IV and Mr. Stiens and Mr. Marsh? That class actually helped prepare me for the reading and writing in college and I did become a Social Studies teacher. Remember sitting by Bob Casserly and Herb Herzog and a real tiny girl named Sue? |

RE: Most influential teacher(s) Posted Tuesday, December 27, 2011 10:07 AM That was a great class! We would divert Stiens with a question about Ireland and Marsh, Germany. Worked like a charm. But we learned a lot and were definitely challenged. Regina Ahrens Engelken |

RE: Most influential teacher(s) Posted Wednesday, December 28, 2011 07:53 AM Oh yes very easy to divert both of them. But I know now that is a teacher trick to get everyone's attention! |

RE: Most influential teacher(s) Posted Thursday, December 29, 2011 08:14 PM I took Social Studies IV but was not prepared for it. What was dumb for me was that I loved Government and Civics and skipped taking it since I took SSIV. My favorite teachers in H.S. were Lawrence Dilks (a history class, but darned if I can remember which one), Rich Gannon (Jr. English). Mr Gannon was kind enough to give me things to read because I had read most of the junior English curriculum. My older brother would pass books on to me, so when the rest of the class read, Catcher in the Rye, I read Nine Stories and Franny and Zooey. |
